Frequently asked Questions & Answers

  • Upon receiving your special flowers, I’ll rehydrate them and deconstruct the bouquet to press chosen stems individually in clay. When your unique clay imprint is ready, I’ll pour plaster over it to create your beautiful cast. When it’s set it will be drying for up to 3 months. Then it will be time for some finishing touches, framing and posting it back to you. Creating floral casts is a slow process and it can take about 3 months from start to finish, but it is truly worth the wait!

  • My style is contemporary, light and airy, to bring attention to the individual blooms and foliage.

  • Bouquets that create the prettiest casts have a selection of small to medium flowers, with different textures, filler flowers, wildflowers and lush green foliage. The more the merrier!

Flowers that press well in clay and create beautiful imprints are: hydrangeas, larkspur, anemones, delphiniums, baby’s breath, cosmos, astrantias, freesias, sweet peas, thistle, Queen Anne’s lace, lavender, hellebores, lisianthus, carnations, Veronicas, clematis, spray roses and various green foliage, such as eucalyptus and more.

Please contact me to discuss your special flowers before you make a booking, to ensure they’ll be suitable for casting.

  • As much as I would love to use all flowers for casting, unfortunately not all flowers create a good clay imprint. Flowers that are particularly bulky and big, such as large roses, peonies, large dahlias or large sunflowers, won’t be suitable for floral casts.

The good news is that there are plenty of flowers that create beautiful casts instead of those mentioned above, such as spray roses and lisianthus. If there are different flowers in your table centrepieces to the ones in your wedding bouquet, please also include them with your bouquet, to give me the best selection for creating your unique work of art.

Please contact me to discuss your special flowers before you make a booking, to ensure they’ll be suitable for casting.

  • As soon as possible, within 2-4 days of the event at the absolute latest, to avoid wilting and loosing their shape and petals. For flowers arriving in the post, I recommend sending them no later than 3 days after your event at the very latest.

  • To keep your flowers in best condition for pressing, they need to be kept in fresh water, in a dark cool room and out of direct sun, before being dropped off to me (my studio is in the village of Monks Risborough, at the foot of the Chiltern Hills in Buckinghamshire).

You can also easily post your flowers if you’re not able to have them dropped off at my studio. Please contact me to discuss it further.

  • Flower casting is a slow & long process and takes several weeks. Your frame will usually be ready for posting / collecting in 4-5 months time, although it might be longer during times busy with weddings, such as late spring, summer and early autumn.

  • Wedding bouquet casts are delicate works of art - please handle them with care, like any fragile ceramic object. If needed, your cast can be gently dusted with a dry lint free cloth. Please keep away from any source of humidity or dampness.

  • The sooner the better! I’m only able to take on a small amount of commissions per month, as botanical casting can be a long process. Spring and summer months can get especially busy, with a lot of wedding ceremonies taking place. Please book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

  • You can absolutely post your flowers! Please contact me to discuss it further and I’ll send you an easy step by step guide on how to do it.

  • Absolutely! I will happily create a cast of any flowers that are special to you: birthday flowers, anniversary flowers or flowers from your garden. Please contact me to discuss it further.

  • Your design will depend on the selection of flowers in your bouquet and what flowers create the best imprint in clay. When I receive your flowers, I’ll choose the best stems for pressing in clay. I’ll create a layout that I think will be most aesthetically pleasing and unique to your flowers. By choosing to have your flowers transformed into a botanical cast by me, you will trust my creative vision for your blooms. Each floral cast is different, in the same way that each wedding bouquet is different, therefore I can’t guarantee a certain look.

  • Due to the unique nature of the floral casts, I’m not able to accept refunds of the bespoke items, as they can’t be sold on.
